The NC Department of Transportation Public Transportation Division held its annual conference in Chapel Hill September 25-27.
Leaders from the Federal Transportation Administration along with state and regional agencies gathered to discuss a multitude of topics relating to public transportation. During the keynote luncheon, awards were presented to statewide winners for exceptional performance in transportation service. County transportation systems were measured within their peer group. Data-driven criteria included customer satisfaction scores, efficiency measures, and cost-effectiveness.
Johnston County Area Transit System (JCATS) was the winner of its peer group.
JCATS Director Neal Davis noted, “This recognition belongs to our schedulers, operations, dispatchers, vehicle maintenance, accounting staff, and our drivers who work so hard to serve our citizens. Our fleet of 31 vehicles travels the distance equivalent to a trip from New York to Los Angeles every day, transporting hundreds to medical appointments, work, and other destinations.”
JCATS is a division of Community and Senior Services of Johnston County, Inc., which depends on grants, service contracts, and contributions to provide a multitude of programs in service to citizens of Johnston County.
