Johnston County Public Schools will begin voluntary workouts for high school fall sports athletic teams beginning Monday, July 6.
These optional workouts will initially be for fall sports only. High school winter and spring workouts, as well as all middle school sports workouts will not be allowed to start on July 6.
All workouts will be conducted keeping the health and safety of student athletes and staff in mind. Workouts will be held in compliance with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s (NCHSAA) Reopening of Sports/Activities Summer Guidelines and will follow all guidance from the Johnston County Health Department.
Student athletes and parents will be required to complete forms prior to returning to workouts which can be found on the JCPS website. Screenings, which include a symptomatic questionnaire and a touchless temperature check, will take place daily.
Participation in summer workouts is optional for fall athletes. Athletes and parents should contact their school with specific workout questions and to obtain necessary paperwork, if needed.
The July 6 start date is subject to change based on state and local directives.
