SMITHFIELD – On Friday morning, January 12, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office will officially open their doors at the new Johnston County Public Safety Center.
Sheriff Steve Bizzell said the sheriff’s office completed their move late-Thursday (today) from the Johnston County Courthouse in Downtown Smithfield to the new Public Safety Center, at 2875 US 70 Business East. Beginning at 8:00am Friday, the sheriff’s office will be open to the public at the new location.
Sheriff Bizzell said all services of the sheriff’s office will now be located at the Public Safety Center including administrative offices, civil, and investigations.
The Johnston County Detention Center, located at 2879 US 70 Business East behind the Johnston County Public Safety Center, opened in July 2023.
Please tell me there are plans for a traffic light at Yelverton Grove and 70!!! Traffic is already a mess.
