SMITHFIELD – A local shopping center has a new owner. According to the Johnston County Register of Deeds Office, Center Pointe Plaza LLC of Raleigh purchased the Centre Pointe Shopping Center, at 1231 N. Brightleaf Boulevard, on December 19, 2024.
The property sold for $11.6 million according to online records. The shopping center is home to Belk, Bealls, and Dollar Tree, among other merchants.

The previous owner, Provest Centre Pointe Plaza of Hudson, NY, purchased the shopping center seven years ago for $10.9 million from IRT Partners LP of N. Miami, Beach, Florida.
According to Johnston County tax records, the 12.3 acre parcel has a tax value of $5.38 million.
The parking lot needs work. It needs money put into it to fix some things up. Hope these new investors do a better job with up keep.
Maybe they will move out the homeless people living in the cars there.
We rent a spot the parking lot a couple times a year for a sales tent. Those folks in the vehicles are just trying to survive like a lot of the rest of the world. They have helped us out quite a few times when “customers” tried to steal or when the wind weather would have otherwise damaged our signs. Smithfield isn’t immune to homelessness, I wish our small towns had more resources and support for mental health. Not all of them are drug or alcohol related issues.
Best reply! We have a local church in Selma that goes out to serve our unhoused friends in Johnston county. Please let them know that Temple City Church has resources for food, clothing, shower, laundry, and many other things free of charge. Also Street Reach of Johnston County has a white flag shelter.
There but for the Grace of God go I.
I wonder if the new owners know that Belks will be closing the Smithfield store in mid July?
Wait, is an belks still open? There’s barely any employees and they have the WORST customer service. Horrible store.
“According to Johnston County tax records, the 12.3 acre parcel has a tax value of $5.38 million.” Was commercial property revaluated like our property was? If so, it should not have a tax value this low.
If it was revaluated like my property, it would have gone from $5.38M to $8.93M, about a 66% increase.
