Hex-Tortion: Johnston County Woman Says Spiritual Healer Threatened Her With A Curse

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A 23-year-old woman has reported to law enforcement that she was threatened with a curse after refusing to pay additional money to a woman she believed was a spiritual healer.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the victim had been searching online for a spiritual healing massage—a service some believe can provide energy cleansing and emotional relief. She was contacted by a woman identifying herself only as “Monica,” who claimed to be a spiritual healer and arranged to meet the victim in Raleigh.

After receiving the massage, the victim said she was asked to pay $350, a price she believed was excessive. When she voiced her concerns, she claims Monica threatened to place a curse on her unless she paid more money.

Fearing the alleged shadow of misfortune, the woman ultimately paid approximately $2,000. When the healer later demanded an additional $1,500, the victim refused and contacted authorities.

Law enforcement warns that spiritual healer scams are not uncommon. These schemes often involve promises to remove curses, cleanse bad energy, or bring good fortune—usually in exchange for large, untraceable cash payments.

The incident is under investigation.
