Johnston County Woman Wins $2 Million, Her Second Big Lottery Prize

JOHNSTON COUNTY – Jennifer Kleinendorst of Willow Spring tried her luck on a $20 scratch-off and won a $2 million top prize, her second major lottery win.

Kleinendorst previously won the $250,000 grand prize in the 2025 Multiply The Cash Second Chance drawing in June.

Her $2 million win came on a lucky 100X The Cash scratch-off from Hill Top on North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina.

When Kleinendorst arrived at lottery headquarters Monday, she had a decision to make. She could choose to receive her prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million. She chose the lump sum of $1.2 million and, after required tax withholdings, took home $861,006.

The 100X The Cash game debuted in January with four $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and two $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

  1. I’ve never understood how taxes take over 50% of your winnings.. man our system is amazing.

  2. Ok… So the ticket was a $2,000,000 winner…. She won 2 million….right? So how did it go to 1.2 million lump sum and then only go home with $861,006?? The way it reads to me, it’s like she got double dipped somewhere. From 2 million to 1.2 million and then again to walk with $861,000… Call me crazy but I read the article 3 times.

Did she win only 1.2 million off a 2 million ticket?

    • If you want the lump sum up front it is not the $2 million. The lump sum was $1.2 million. She opted for that instead of payment over 20 years.

    • She took the lump sum which paid out at $1.2 million. If she would have taken the 20 year payout option she would have gotten the $2 million

  3. @Vicki C. She walked away with $861,006 not 1.2mil. So where did the remainder go from $2mil to $800k?

    • @Nell Nava keywords lump sum, and 20 yr payout option. ie: $1.2 mil lump sum like right NOW, 20 yr payout= $2 mil then
