Johnston DSS Takes Custody Of Three Children Following Sheriff’s Search Warrant

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Three young children were removed from a Four Oaks home Wednesday after Johnston County sheriff’s deputies executing a narcotics search warrant allegedly discovered illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun inside the residence.

The Johnston County Department of Social Services took emergency custody of the children following the search at a home in the 2700 block of Thompson Road.

The children’s mother, Amber Nicole Gibson, also known as Amber Nicole Wilson, 39, was arrested following the search conducted by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Criminal Investigations Division.

Investigators reportedly recovered suspected LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun found under a bed.

Deputies also reported finding what they described as unsanitary living conditions inside the home. Johnston County EMS was called to evaluate the three children while social workers responded to the residence.

One of the children was transported to a hospital by EMS for medical treatment. Authorities said the medical issue was unrelated to the search warrant investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office did not release the ages of the children.

Gibson is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $17,500 secured bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
