SMITHFIELD – The Town of Smithfield has proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month. Mayor Andy Moore presented Parks and Recreation Director Gary Johnson a framed proclamation during the monthly town council meeting.
Mayor Moore said Parks and Recreation is an integral part of the community, and it promotes health and wellness, physical and mental health, and well-being. It also connects children and adults with nature and the outdoors.
The U.S. House of Representatives has also designated the month of July as Parks and Recreation Month.
