Juvenile Accused Of School Break-In, Vandalism

A juvenile is facing charges following a weekend break-in at a Johnston County elementary school.

An alert neighbor called 911 around 4:00pm Sunday after seeing a juvenile on a bicycle throw objects towards the windows and glass entry doors at River Dell Elementary School at 12100 Buffalo Road, Clayton.  The caller told dispatchers they also saw the juvenile crawl through a broken window.

A Johnston County deputy arrived on the scene and saw the juvenile flee on his bicycle.  Witnesses were able to tell officers where the child went. After going to the residence, authorities located the 11 year-old who will face charges in juvenile court.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the young offender caused approximately $1,750 in damage to windows and doors at the school plus an additional $4,100 in damage to 16 computers and one iPad inside the school building.
