Police in the small town of Micro are investigating an unusual theft. Someone stole the keys from six pieces of equipment used by the public works department.
Micro Public Works Director Johnny Dixon reported Sunday morning that someone had removed the keys from town-owned equipment parked in a storage area on E. Fayetteville Street.
Dixon said keys were missing from a Toyota forklift, International truck, John Deere tractor, John Deere mower, Craftsman mower, and a Bobcat. There were no signs of forced entry into the storage area.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene because no Micro police officer was on duty. The sheriff’s office took a report and forwarded the incident to Micro Police to investigate.
