A traffic stop for a window tint violation on Interstate 40 Wednesday led officers to a large quantity of Khat, an illegal stimulant, $28,000 in cash and a firearm.
Deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team stopped a vehicle on the westbound side of I-40. During the traffic stop a K-9 alerted on the presence of narcotics and a probable cause search was conducted.
During the search, 268 grams of Khat was seized along with the cash and a concealed gun.
Hani Aboulquadoos Yahia Saleh, 31, of Fayetteville was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon. Bond was set at $75,000.
