SMITHFIELD – My Kid’s Club has received a $1000 donation from KS Bank of Smithfield to benefit the My Kid’s Club Annual Campaign.
The mission of My Kid’s Club is to encourage and empower youth to grow in character and understanding through studies and opportunities for academic success, civic engagement and habits that underscore healthy living to achieve their potential as responsible and caring citizens.
Approximately 1,600 children have come through the Selma unit of My Kid’s Club over its 13 years of service to children from 1st through 8th grade.
Hurricane Matthew destroyed the building in Selma. The Club is now housed at Selma Elementary School. Plans are underway to replace the My Kid’s Club building. A long-term strategic plan to meet the needs of kids all across Johnston County is in process. In addition to the programming in Selma, My Kid’s Club will host two-week summer camps at South Smithfield Elementary and the Benson Resource Center. Those opportunities for youth begin in June.
