A Johnston County man is facing serious charges following his arrest at a NC Highway Patrol license checkpoint Saturday night.
Troopers were conducting the checkpoint on Barber Mill Road near Clayton when a vehicle driven by 25 year-old Trevor Montae Cole Evans of E. Railroad Avenue, Princeton approached.
Evans was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while impaired. Troopers became suspicious about the 2004 Infiniti he was operating and contacted a Johnston County Sheriff’s K-9 unit to respond to the checkpoint. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and during a search over 242 grams of cocaine with a potential street value of $24,200 was seized.
Officers also seized his vehicle, a cell phone, two clear plastic bags and a book bag from the car.
Evans was charged with trafficking in cocaine and driving while impaired. He was placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $130,000 bond.
