WTSB News has confirmed, the Town of Four Oaks and County of Johnston are negotiating with a large furniture company that’s considering a site next to Interstate 95 for a distribution center and retail store.
Sources tell WTSB that Ashley Furniture, the number one retailer of home furniture in North America, is looking at several locations on Interstate 95 in North Carolina, including a location near Exit 87 (Keen Road) in Four Oaks.
Source say negotiations are underway with property owners on Brewer Road at Highway 96 as a potential site. Water and sewer would need to be extended to the site, if Ashley Furniture selects the Four Oaks location.
Reports suggest the company could also house a Call Center at the new I-95 location. The company initially looked at a site in the Four Oaks Industrial Park but decided against that location because they wanted to have a retail component in addition to the warehouse/distribution center.
Facilities this size typically employ between 150 and 250 workers.
