3 other district commissioners seats unopposed
There were four seats up for re-election Tuesday for the Johnston County Board of Commissioners, however only one seat was contested.
Republican Butch Lawter of Clayton carried 63.1% of the votes cast in the District 7 race against challenger Gracie Wells Chamblee, a Clayton Democrat.
In unofficial results, Lawter garnered 40,991 votes to Chamblee’s 23,931. Lawter will fill the seat of Commissioner Allen Mims of Clayton. Lawter defeated Mims in the May Republican Primary.
In the District 3 race, incumbent Commissioner Chad Stewart of Four Oaks was unopposed and received 47,125 votes.
In District 5, Patrick Harris of Smithfield was unopposed and received 35,975 votes.
In District 6, Tony Braswell of Pine Level was unopposed and received 47,006 votes.
