Fire investigators believe a lightning strike Saturday afternoon may have started a house fire in Johnston County.
The blaze was reported on Balmoral Street in the Broadmoor West Subdivision off Cleveland Road.
A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the roof and called 911. The Cleveland, Clayton and 50-210 Fire Departments responded.
Firefighters extinguished a small fire in the attic. The homeowners were not at home at the time.
Johnston County Fire Marshal Adam Stanley said the cause is currently under investigation, however early indications point to a lightning strike.
No injuries were reported.
