PINE LEVEL – Tim Little of Pine Level formally announced today (Monday) his candidacy for Johnston County Commissioner – District 6. He believes his background with the local fire service and his years with the NC Department of Transportation will help him serve the residents of the county.
“I have had the privilege of living in Johnston County all my life. I have experienced education, recreation, athletics and all the things that make this county a great place to live,” Mr. Little said. “I am currently employed with Michael Baker International as a Vice President and Infrastructure Operations Manager. Michael Baker International is a leading provider of engineering and consulting services. Prior to joining Michael Baker, I spent over 30 years as an engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) with diverse experience in all aspects of transportation operations, including superior project management and team leadership abilities. I most recently served as Chief Engineer for the NCDOT where I oversaw the design, construction, and maintenance of 80,000 miles of roadway in the state’s 14 Divisions. My expertise lies in leadership and team development skills. I also have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of transportation with an extensive working knowledge of the entire transportation network.”
“Over twenty years of my career with NCDOT included working in Johnston and surrounding counties. From this experience I have a significant understanding of the growth the county has experienced and the many opportunities that we will have as a county and a region. I feel my experience with infrastructure including roads, bridges, utilities, land use, and public safety would be an asset to the board as the county moves forward.”
“I also had the privilege of serving as a volunteer on the Kenly Fire Department for over 28 years. Most of my career with the fire department was as an Assistant Chief. Being able to serve the community was a very rewarding and fulfilling experience that I hope to continue if elected as County Commissioner.”
“However, the greatest achievement of my life has been helping raise my son, Tyler Little. Tyler currently works as an Assistant District Engineer with NCDOT for Johnston and Wayne Counties.”
“I look forward to the upcoming election. I hope to be able to serve the citizens of Johnston County with honor and dignity and help make our county an even better place to live and work while preserving the many things that make us unique.”
Mr. Little, age 56, a Republican, is currently a member of the Johnston County Planning Board, Johnston County Health Board, and Kenly Fire Department Corporation Board Secretary. He retired after 28 years of service with the Kenly Fire Department.
