Louisburg College is delaying the start of spring semester by a day, hoping to prevent students returning to campus from traveling in ice and snow conditions.
Franklin County is under a winter storm warning from 7 pm Friday, Jan. 6, until 7 pm Saturday, Jan. 7.
“The amount of precipitation, coupled with the cold temperatures being forecast, indicate that travel will be difficult over the weekend and into Monday for many of our new and returning students,” said Jason Modlin, Louisburg College Vice President for Student Life.
“In the interest of student safety, we have made the decision to delay new student check-in, returning student arrival, and the first day of classes each by one day.”
The new dates:
Tuesday, Jan. 10 – New Student Check-in
Wednesday, Jan. 11 – Returning Students Arrive/New Student Orientation
Thursday, Jan. 12 – First Day of Classes
