A major water main break on Monday forced Town of Clayton utility crews to close the intersection of East Main Street and South Church Street.
Repairs were completed on Monday but it required crews to take out the asphalt to get to the underground utility, according to Town of Clayton Public Information Officer Stacy Beard.
On Tuesday, after the hole was filled in, an asphalt company came in and repaved a section of roadway.
The intersection was reopened to traffic Tuesday afternoon.
