Major EMS Response After Eight Injured In NC 96 Collision

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Eight people, including several young passengers, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in northern Johnston County.

The collision occurred around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of NC Highway 96 North and Covered Bridge Road near Wendell. The accident prompted a Level 3 EMS response, with multiple Johnston County EMS ambulances dispatched from across the county to the scene.

One vehicle was occupied by a teenage driver and three juvenile passengers. The second vehicle was carrying an adult driver and three young passengers, some of whom were teenagers.

All eight occupants were transported to WakeMed for treatment. Authorities said none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Corinth Holders Fire assisted at the accident scene. The North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
