Man Accused Of Threatening Hotel Clerk, Pulling Fire Alarm To Summon Officers

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A Raleigh man told deputies he intentionally pulled a hotel fire alarm because he wanted law enforcement to arrive faster, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to WoodSpring Suites on Cleveland Crossings Drive around 8 p.m. Sunday following a disturbance involving 24-year-old Arnold Ray Cooper.
Investigators said the incident began after Cooper entered the hotel intending to rent a room for the night.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Cooper became upset while the front desk clerk was assisting another customer.
He allegedly motioned toward his waistband and told the clerk, “Don’t test me. I have my concealed carry.”
Authorities said Cooper then pulled the hotel fire alarm. He later reportedly told deputies he did so because he wanted law enforcement to respond more quickly.
Cooper was arrested and charged with making a false fire alarm and communicating threats, both misdemeanors.
He was held under a $750 bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.
