A Johnston County man was injured Tuesday during a home invasion.
Around 10:40am deputies responded to the 100 block of South Pleasant Coates Road, outside of Benson, near McGee’s Crossroads. The victim told deputies that that two men forcibly entered his home and at gunpoint robbed him of several items. The man was beaten by the suspects who then fled from the scene in a vehicle.
After the suspects left, the victim ran to a neighbors home and summoned help. Johnston County deputies were able to obtain a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a license plate number which led them to an undisclosed address. One of the two suspects was taken into custody. Tuesday afternoon, the search for the second suspect was still ongoing.
Sheriff’s detectives also executed a search warrant at the address where the first suspect was located.
The homeowner was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately released. Photos by John Payne
