Man Gets Probation For Killing 10 Year-Old

DUNN – Ronald Alphonso Fox, 70, of Dunn, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of involuntary manslaughter in the motor vehicle death of 10-year-old Danay Allen. He was sentenced to 30 months of probation.

Danay was out looking for her puppy with her family near the intersection of Spring Branch and Jackson roads when she was struck by Fox’s car on the night of April 12, 2021.

The Wayne Avenue Elementary fourth-grader was returning to her family’s car when Fox ran off of Jackson Road, barreled up the grass, jumped a curb and struck Danay, according to a witness at the scene.

Bystanders rushed to her aid. Danay was transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital and airlifted that night to UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill where she was pronounced dead.

    “Fox had several charges dropped as part of his plea, including felony death by vehicle, DWI, reckless driving and serious injury by vehicle.
    Dunn police said a 2010 car driven by Fox was traveling at a high rate of speed on Jackson Road, ran up on the sidewalk and across a dirt lot before hitting the girl and her mother’s car.”

    • I agree with everything except Brown people. My skin is BROWN yet I’m called BLACK. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE that speak SPANISH are included in the BROWN community. Also ASIANS (people of INDIA). In INDIA there are people that skin is BLACK as NIGHT. Yet the Americans that have BROWN skin aren’t considered BROWN PEOPLE?? When our counterpart are TAN not brown.   6. The poor little girl being killed is so sad. Prayers for the family. With that said, what made the guy drive off the road? Was it medical, was he drinking, auto malfunction? I sure would like to know the facts that lead up to this decision. Again, this is so sad about the little girl. This is the first I am hearing about it. It is a heart breaker for sure.

  9. I am not suprised by this, as someone who worked in the court system and would see pleas like this all the time. I worked in Durham and seeing parents crying over their children being murdered only to be slapped in the face by the system. Criminals have more rights then vicitms. This little girl deserved more than this. RIP !!

  11. May God truly Bless this family. I cannot fathom losing a child and worse seeing the person responsible only given probation. It’s like saying nothing wrong was done. My heart goes out to Danays family.
