SELMA – A Selma resident is behind bars after being linked to a shooting outside a convenience store. Isidro Gutierrez Manzanares, age 55, of Robin Circle was arrested December 13 at a home in northern Johnston County.
Three days earlier, on December 10, Selma Police said Manzanares confronted an individual with a gun in the parking lot of the Neighborhood Market. The victim tried to drive away in their car, and while doing so struck Manzanares with their vehicle. Manzanares reportedly fired 3 shots at the fleeing car, striking the vehicle once. The driver was not injured.
Police detectives identified Manzanares as the suspect and also learned he was under investigation at the time by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Wake County Sheriff’s Office.
Manzanares was located outside a home in the 1200 block of Woodard’s Dairy Road, Middlesex on December 13 and arrested.
Agents executed a search warrant at the address and allegedly found two stolen guns and approximately 10 ounces of marijuana inside the residence.
Manzanares was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into occupied property, discharging a firearm in the city limits, and misdemeanor larceny. He was held under a $376,000 secured bond.
A person found inside the Woodard’s Dairy Road home at the time of the search warrant, Edwin Castro, age 47, of the same address, was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm. Castro was jailed under a $80,000 secured bond.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search warrant and arrests.
Was it really necessary to lock them up like that right before Christmas?
