A man selling items out of the back of a U-Haul van Monday afternoon near McGee’s Crossroads has been arrested.
Johnston County deputies received a report about suspicious activity involving the individual and went to investigate. Officers said Ryan Keith Geddings, 34, of Apex had stopped the U-Haul in a parking lot beside Highway 50 and started selling items he had in the back of the truck.
It turns out those items had allegedly been reported stolen in Wake County and South Carolina. The U-Haul had not been reported stolen but the company was reportedly searching for the vehicle after it was not returned on time.
Geddings was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail where a magistrate set his bail at $80,000.
