Smithfield Police detectives are investigating an assault that seriously injured a Benson man.
Police said it happened around 3:00am last Saturday, Jan. 18th at Twister’s, located at 1300 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. Officers said 53 year-old Isidro Gonzalez of Benson was among several people engaged in a fight at the nightclub. Police arrived and broke up the affray. Gonzalez was transported to Wake Medical Center due to a serious head injury.
Police said today (Friday) no arrests had been made but the incident remains under investigation.
