SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating the shooting of a 30 year-old man. Around 2:30am Saturday, May 28th, police were dispatched to the emergency department at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield after the gunshot victim arrived for medical treatment.
The victim, Bruce Percell McLamb, was in the 800 block of Midway Street when he was shot.
Police said McLamb and the suspect argued before the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. McLamb was struck in the arm and face. He was released from the hospital the next day. He is still recovering from injuries.
Officers said the suspect was known to the victim and the shooting was not random. Detectives are still investigating.
