A Johnston County sheriff’s deputy was assaulted while trying to arrest a wanted person. It happened Monday after the officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Futrell Road near Selma.
The deputy located the vehicle occupied by a man wearing only green pajama pants and no shirt. The officer recognized the individual as 28 year-old Michael Wayne Glover Jr., of Eddy Court, Benson because of an outstanding warrant.
When the deputy approached Glover, he pushed the officer and ran away. Following a short foot pursuit, Glover was detained without further incident.
Glover was charged with resisting a public officer and assault on a government official. He was served with a warrant for violation of a domestic violence restraining order.
