Man Who Fired Gun In Grocery Store Parking Lot Captured After Two County Chase

CLAYTON – Authorities believe a shooting incident in the parking lot of Publix off Highway 42 East of Clayton was domestic related. Around 9:00am Saturday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded after a caller reported shots had been fired in the parking lot.

Deputies believe Antwan Jamal Terry, age 28, of Raleigh fired multiple shots into an unoccupied car, while the owner of the vehicle was inside the store. The shooting was not random. Terry fled from the store parking lot but was quickly located traveling on Highway 42 towards Clayton.

During a chase, Terry allegedly tossed a gun out the car window. The weapon was later recovered.

Terry led officers on a pursuit into Wake County and while in Raleigh, a state trooper used the PIT maneuver to end the pursuit.

Terry was charged with multiple traffic offenses including fleeing to elude arrest. He was also charged with violation of a domestic violence protective order. He was held under a $60,250 bond on the traffic charges. He was held without bond on the domestic violence offense.

  1. Thank God no innocent people or LEOs were injured by this low life P.O.S.! He threw the gun out the window so at another time some kid could end up picking it up and then no telling what could have happened next, He should not even have bond!
