Manhunt Ends In Johnston County

UPDATE 1:39PM: Law enforcement agents have ended their manhunt for a driver who jumped and ran from a traffic stop Friday morning. The driver managed to elude arrest after fleeing on foot.

Although not located today, the driver has reportedly been identified and will face charges.


SELMA – Numerous officers from several law enforcement agencies are conducting a manhunt for a person who jumped and ran from a traffic stop. The search is underway along US Highway 70 near Interstate 95.

Officers are searching an area along US 70 between I-95 and Gor-An Farm Road.

Friday morning, a state trooper initiated a traffic stop. The driver reportedly fled on foot across all four lanes of US 70 before disappearing in a wooded area. A passenger in the vehicle remained at the scene.

The State Highway Patrol helicopter is assisting troopers on the ground. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Selma Police Department are on the scene assisting. K-9 tracking units have also responded.
