Smithfield Police said they seized more than 12 ounces of marijuana after searching a South Smithfield apartment on Friday.
The narcotics, along with digital scales, plastic bags, and $222 in cash were seized after police searched an address on Kay Drive, off South Brightleaf Boulevard.
Police Captain R.K. Powell said officers were investigating the theft of stolen electronics that were believed to be in the apartment. During the search, the drugs were located.
Kalette Yvonne Jones, 23, and Jeffrey Lamar Padgett, 25, both of 2244 Kay Drive, were charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance. Both Jones and Padgett were transported to the Johnston County Jail where a magistrate set bail at $50,000 each.
