Johnston County Commissioners have approved a tax exempt loan for the Meadow Volunteer Fire Department. The department plans to borrow $300,000 to purchase a new Peterbilt 348 tandem axle fire truck and equipment.
United Community Bank and First Citizens Bank submitted identical bids of 2.15 percent on the 10 year loan. County Finance Director Chad McLamb said the fire department had an existing relationship with United Community Bank and preferred to obtain the loan with them.
Commissioners unanimously approved the tax exempt loan with United Community Bank.
