FOUR OAKS – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into a field during a high speed pursuit.

Around 2:15pm Tuesday, a state trooper spotted a motorcycle reportedly traveling in the wrong direction on the Interstate 95 exit ramp at Keen Road in Four Oaks.

The trooper attempted to stop the rider on Keen Road but he reportedly accelerated to a high rate of speed while headed eastbound. At the Stewart Road intersection, the operator attempted to turn right but was traveling too fast and crashed into a field. He was ejected and thrown approximately 35 feet.

The motorcyclist was transported to WakeMed with serious injuries.

His name was not immediately released but the Highway Patrol said there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest at the time of the pursuit.

Four Oaks Fire and Johnston County EMS responded to the accident scene.
