Motorcycle Seized Following High Speed Chase

BENSON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s office arrested a Benson man and seized his motorcycle under the NC Run and Done law. Authorities allege Michael Steffin West Jr., age 34, of Creechstone Drive, attempted to elude a deputy during a traffic stop.
Around 10:05pm Wednesday, June 14 deputies were running stationary radar on Highway 50 about eight miles north of Benson. Authorities said two motorcycles passed by officers at approximately 90 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone.
One motorcyclist pulled over for a traffic stop. The second motorcyclist reportedly failed to stop and accelerated to higher speeds.
The deputy chased the fleeing suspect for several miles before he eventually stopped.
West was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, reckless driving, and driving without a license. He was given a $25,000 secured bond.
The 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was reportedly operating was seized.

Harleys ain’t meant to be fast ….
Wonder why he was running. Glad no LEO’s or civilian’s were injured.
No license article stated.
I will bet there is more then just the license. Just a feeling.
