A rider who had just picked up his motorcycle ended up crashing the bike a short time later.
Emergency workers were called to an accident Tuesday evening at the intersection of Interstate 40 at Interstate 95 near Benson. The operator of the motorcycle was attempting to merge from I-40 east onto I-95 south when he ran off the interstate and struck a median guardrail on I-95, wedging the bike under the guardrail.
The driver was ejected onto the grassy median. He was transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment. The motorcycle was a total loss.
