Motorcyclist Seriously Injured While Fleeing From Troopers

A two county high speed chase ended with a violent crash in Johnston County Tuesdayafternoon.

It began when a Wake County trooper attempted to stop a blue and white motorcycle for speeding and improper passing on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.  The operator refused to stop and traveled onto Old Garner Road and then onto Guy Road.

At the intersection of US 70 and Guy Road the trooper lost sight of the speeding motorcycle and terminated the chase.

A short time later, an accident was discovered in a curve on Guy Road just inside Johnston County.  Authorities said the single vehicle accident involved the motorcyclist who had been trying to elude officers. He had ran off the roadway into a tobacco field where he was ejected.

Sgt. Michael Baker with the NC Highway Patrol Public Information Office said Christopher Lamar Krause, 26, of Raleigh was transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries

Krause was charged with speeding, improper passing, reckless driving, a stop sign violation, a red light violation, no motorcycle endorsement and feloniously eluding arrest.  Photos by John Payne
