Motorist Reports Being Shot At While Driving Near Clayton

CLAYTON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report from a Wake County man who says someone opened fire on him while he was driving near Clayton.

The incident was reported on August 22 at approximately 11:17 p.m. along Shotwell Road, near the Clayton city limits.

According to authorities, the 39-year-old man told deputies he was driving when someone in a dark-colored passenger vehicle allegedly fired a shot at his car.

Deputies responded to the scene but were unable to find any bullet damage on the vehicle or locate shell casings in the area.

No injuries were reported, and investigators say the incident currently appears to be isolated.
