SMITHFIELD – The Ava Gardner Museum is celebrating Ava’s 100th birthday this year with a mural as a tribute to her life and career. Lynell Seabold, Executive Director of the Ava Gardner Museum, said the muralist, Brian Lewis (known as Jeks One) is an extremely talented artist and the Museum is honored to have him create the tribute to Ava.
“We are also installing a rose garden with yellow roses, Ava’s favorite flower, which will be added after the mural is complete. The mural will include Ava’s photo that lead to her discovery, through notable films and publicity shots, and finally to her later years in London, spent quietly with her beloved dog, Morgan,” Seabold said.
“Our Ava Gardner Festival, October 7 – 9, will be the kickoff event for the Centennial celebration, and we have special plans for that as well. Ava’s birthday is on Christmas Eve and we are planning a birthday event in December.”
Work on the mural began Monday beside the Ava Gardner Museum at 325 E. Market Street in Downtown Smithfield. Weather permitting, work should be completed by this weekend.
What a waste of money. So many hungry folks out there and they want to spend money on mess like this.
