NC 39 Accident Closes Highway For Two Hours

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A three-vehicle accident shut down NC 39 in both directions for more than two hours Friday night north of NC 42.

The collision happened around 8:45 p.m. on NC 39 near Creech Church Road.

According to preliminary information, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was involved in what appeared to be a minor collision with a Ford F-450 pulling a trailer loaded with a large shipping container. Both vehicles were stopped in the roadway when a third vehicle, a passenger car, struck the rear of the trailer.

It was not immediately known if anyone was injured in the crash.

NC 39 remained closed in both directions for more than two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
