Neuse Charter Senior Selected For Prestigious High Point University Program

SMITHFIELD — A Neuse Charter School senior has been invited to compete for one of High Point University’s most competitive scholarships after being selected to attend the university’s Presidential Fellowship Weekend.
According to Neuse Charter School, Abbigale “Abby” Creech, ranked No. 1 in her graduating class, was invited to the invitation-only event, where selected students compete for full-ride scholarships.
Creech was recognized for her academic achievement, leadership and service, school officials said.
A member of the Student Government Association and the National Honor Society, Creech founded both the Debate Club and the Lumière Girls Service Club and serves as president of each organization. School officials said her leadership has helped create opportunities for students to develop critical thinking skills while also encouraging service to others.
Creech is also a four-year participant in cross country and track and field. In addition to athletics, she is involved in her church and works with students with disabilities, according to the school.
English teacher Anna Munilla said Creech’s academic excellence and leadership distinguish her among her peers.
“Abby Creech is an exceptional student leader whose academic excellence, compassion and initiative set her apart,” Munilla said. “Through her leadership in student government, Debate Club and the Lumière Girls Service Club, along with her dedication to service and athletics, Abby consistently demonstrates integrity, empathy and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on those around her.”
Creech is the daughter of Kevin and Holly Creech and the sister of Zachary Creech.
