The Wayne County Board of Education has named Southern Wayne High assistant principal, Connie Harrell, the new principal for Greenwood Middle. She is replacing Ryan Nelson who was recently named principal of Goldsboro High.
Connie Harrell has 29 years education service, five with WCPS, and has served at Southern Wayne High as assistant principal since 2017. Prior to joining WCPS, Ms. Harrell spent six years as a school administrator at North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School; two years as principal and four as assistant principal. Before transitioning to school administration, Ms. Harrell taught high school English. Ms. Harrell was named this year’s Wayne County Public Schools’ Assistant Principal of the Year.
“Ms. Harrell has proven herself to be an outstanding school administrator,” said Dr. Michael Dunsmore, WCPS superintendent. “Her experience, leadership skills, and passion will be key qualities in helping the school build on its continued success. My administrative team looks forward to supporting Ms. Harrell and her staff during this period of transition.”
Ms. Harrell will begin her new role effective immediately.
