Clayton residents will have a chance to meet their new high school principal. On Monday night, the Clayton High School PTSA will hold a Principal Meet and Greet session for incoming principal Bennett Jones. The event will be held at 6:30pm until 8:00pm in the school cafeteria.
Jones, who has been the assistant principal at South Johnston High School since February 2013 will become the new Clayton High principal effective July 1st. Jones was the Distance Education Advisor and Head Men’s Track Coach at South Johnston from 2010 to 2012.
From 2008 to 2010, he was a health and PE teacher at West Johnston High, where he also served as the head football and men’s track coach.
From 2002 to 2008, Jones was a computer teacher at Clayton High, and also the head track and assistant football coach. He was a computer engineering teacher and head football coach at Beddingfield High School in Wilson from 2000 to 2002.
Jones received his Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina University and Masters of School Administration from NC State University. He anticipates receiving his Doctor of Education from NC State in December 2017.
Parents and students that will be attending Clayton High next school year are invited to attend Monday’s event.
