New Song, a special musical ministry of Geneva College from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania will be performing at Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church in Selma this Sunday, July 15 at 7:00 pm. The free one-night performance is one of over 25 in New Song’s tour throughout the eastern United State this summer.
From July to August, this 9-student ensemble will sing in nine states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.
New Song sings from a variety of musical genres such as a cappella Psalms, spirituals, hymns and contemporary arrangements of praise and worship songs. Most programs also showcase drama and skits grounded on Biblical principles.
Group members are selected based on their musical abilities, gifts in dramatic presentation, and desire and commitment to serve Jesus Christ. These students commit to a year of membership in which they perform during the summer on tour and sing a prelude at Geneva’s weekly chapel service.
In the past, New Song has toured throughout the continental US, Canada and mainland China.
For 41 years, they have brought encouragement to fellow believers and have shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, touching the lives of thousands.
Opening for New Song will be the Selma Baptist Church Choir. They are currently under the direction of Rona Privett-Frost.
