No charges will be filed after a bus carrying 20 middle school students struck a parked SUV Monday afternoon in Smithfield.
The accident happened at 3:48pm on South Fourth Street at East Lee Street.
A Johnston County school bus being driven by Angela Diane Watson of Four Oaks was traveling northbound on South Fourth Street and attempted to turn onto East Lee. While making the turn the rear of the bus struck the corner of a parked 2002 Ford SUV owned by Landis Roofing of Durham.
Twenty students from Smithfield Middle School were on board. None were injured.
Police estimated damage to the 2008 Freightliner bus at $300. Damage to the SUV was placed at $1,000.
Officer J.B. Cutchins investigated the crash. No charges were filed.
