CLAYTON – While a lone woman stood on the steps of Clayton’s Town Hall reading her Bible and praying for her town, a pickup truck flying a large Trump flag circled the area around Town Square.
In a first-of-its-kind event, full of horn-honking cars, sign and flag waving people, chants of “no freedom, no peace” and others, the No Kings Day protest filled Main Street in Clayton on Saturday. Hundreds were practicing their constitutional right to assemble and exercise their freedom of speech in the once small town.
It was a noisy but peaceful demonstration, coinciding with others across the country, with people protesting for and against a variety of issues wrapped around the No Kings theme of the day. While many seemed to enjoy the time gathering with friends, most of the signs and chants were anti-Donald Trump in nature.
The crowd marched down the sidewalk from Town Square, through the downtown area, and back.
Some went to extremes with obscenities printed on their signs and clothing, but most were simply demanding actions against immigration law enforcement, ICE and the President.
The event was organized by the group, Indivisible of Johnston County. There were other organized groups represented, such as Raging Grannies and Moms Demand Action in the crowd of all ages.
Organizers thanked Town leaders and the police for their cooperation, urging demonstrators to “leave the town as we found it” and to clean up before leaving.
Clayton Police reported no problems during the peaceful two and a half hour demonstration.
Look at all those clowns! what a waste of time, because we don’t have kings that rule America unlike other countries. And why is it that these “protesters” are never decent looking looks and personality go hand in hand, I guess.
Oh, and by the way “Trump” is still the president! 🙂

FYI: the “No Kings” protest isn’t about crowns and thrones, it’s about standing up to power grabs, extremism, and wannabe authoritarians who think they’re above the law. If you don’t get that, maybe crack a book before throwing shade.
And just a tip: when your argument ends with “Trump is still president 🙂” in 2025, you’ve already disqualified yourself from being taken seriously.

First of all the military parade in Washington DC was approved by President Biden in June 2024. The cost of the parade is about the same as it cost for day-to-day maneuvers by the military on a regular training day. There were many sponsors of the parade that paid the majority of the money most of them defense contractors.
As far as these people protesting they have the right. People could take to the streets and protest rights for cats for all I care as long as they don’t damage property or hurt anyone or block traffic…It is always the minority of the population that is the loudest. Just take comfort and knowing that the majority of people support this administration. Nobody’s talking about tariffs, inflation, or any of the other things that people predicted were going to be wrong with the country. The tariffs were supposed to be a bargaining tool, however our very own people sabotaged that by putting pressure on the administration, so other countries felt like they didn’t have to bargain because America’s own people were going to pressure the president into removing them rather than make the other countries do as we wanted.

I’m not a big political person, but whoever was responsible for honoring our US ARMY did an amazing job. My husband pulled 2 terms of duty in Vietnam and was discharged with an honorable discharge in 1972. He died in 2009 due to agent orange and when they showed our FORT BRAG 82ND AIRBORNE being honored it made me very proud and shed a lot of tears. I also want to thank President Trump for honoring the 82ND by changing our name back to its original Fort Brag.

Peaceful protesting is a great way to share your views/opinions on current policies. However, in order to be taking seriously, participants really need to focus on facts. The “No Kings” protests are hilarious because of the rhetoric surrounding the protests, not to mention the drama and lack of authenticity from the protestors themselves.
It is quite humorous watching the derangement on full display. Yet, I also shake my head at the lack of self-control so many people have these days. America is being dragged through the mud: From the “…home of the brave” to the “home of the weak (minded)”.
I don’t like President Trump’s personality. However, he IS putting America first. Finally, someone is reviewing how our hard-earned tax dollars are being spent/wasted. I like that our president is getting our military stronger by removing those who make it weak. I appreciate our borders being secure and drug-traffickers being hunted down. I appreciate the men and women of law enforcement, who obey the laws and arrest those that do not. There are many things to like about this administration. You just have to get past the personality and the lies of the disrupters.
The 250th anniversary parade was beautifully done and very timely, given the Iranian threats to the United States of America. Admittedly, I couldn’t listen to the President’s full speech. But I will not make our country look weak to the rest of the world by participating in ridiculous protests. Instead, I stand in solidarity with our President and his administration.
