Annie Runell Jones, 90 of Hope Mills, NC, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025.

Born on March 12, 1935, in Harnett County, NC, to Harvey Allen Cutts and Annie Grady Cutts.

Always a hard worker doing factory for several companies, retired from Gerber Children’s Wear after 20 years’ service. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed crocheting, pillow making, quilting and crafting home decor. She was a talented wood worker.

She had a passion for animals and strays. If she couldn’t find them a home they became family. She was happiest cooking, canning and preserving foods which she shared with family, friends and strangers. She loved gatherings and laughter. It gave her much pleasure to grow flowers, plants and vegetables with many starting as seeds or cuttings. Finding deals and sales while out shopping and going to thrift stores and yard sales was her fun treat.

She was a devoted wife, adored sister, loving aunt and cousin and a special friend. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barney Jones, Sister Peggy Jean Stephenson and niece Cynthia Dawn (Cindy) Stephenson. Sisters Ruby Hughes, Hilda Grey Guyton, nephews David Gerald Edwards and Joseph Keith Stephenson and most recently brother-in-law, Joseph Daniel (Dan) Stephenson.

Runell is survived by sister, Betty Sue Edwards of Erwin, Gary Whitman and wife Ladena and family of Dunn, nephew Glenn Stephenson and wife Sherrie of Lillington, niece Debra (Debbie) Hord Stephenson of Lillington, great nephew Joseph David (JD) and wife Madison of Angier, her precious dog Spanky, and many cousins and extended family.

The family will receive friends at Dunn Funeral Home in Erwin, NC on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

A graveside service will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church in Garner, NC, at 12:15 p.m.
