Smithfield- Barbara Williams Clapp, age 84, passed away Sunday October 13, 2024 at her home in Smithfield surrounded by her family. She was born in Johnston County on February 9, 1940 to the late Gilbert Williams and Alleane Ferrell Williams. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Clapp Sr.
The family respectfully request that all visitors visit at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday October 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at West Calvary FWB Church in Smithfield on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service on Wednesday in Knollwood Memorial Park.
Barbara is survived by her son, Jimmy Clapp Jr., and wife Debbie of Morehead City; daughter, Kim Stanfield of Smithfield; brother, Marvin Williams of Knightdale; sister, Judy Broadwell of Smithfield; grandchildren, Ashley Clapp, Joshua Clapp, Kortland Thornton (Matthew), Kody Stanfield; great granddaughter, Remington Thornton.
Barbara was a founding member at West Calvary FWB Church in Smithfield where she served over 60 years of dedicated Christian service. Her life was a testament of her work to leading others to Christ. She worked many years as an office administrative secretary with Johnston County Schools and had a scholarship named in her honor that continues today.
