Benson, NC: Mr. Billy Ray Norris, age 78, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Steven’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Pete Norris, Jr. and Pete Radford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Norris was born on September 3, 1944 in Johnston County, NC to the late Lester Franklin and Nellie Cornelia Elizabeth Norris. He was preceded in death by all his sisters and brothers. Mr. Norris retired from farming, construction and lawncare. He was a member of Steven’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ada Jackson Norris; daughters, Pamela Norris of Benson, Cristy Norris Adams and husband, Dell of Benson; grandchildren, Jessica Mae Westbrook and husband, James and Everett Odell “Rett” Adams, IV; great-grandchildren, Carson Westbrook, Riley Westbrook, Jacob Westbrook; several nieces and nephews; and his special fur baby, Gracie.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 1:45PM to 2:45PM at Steven’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church prior to the service and other times at the home.
