Calvin “Cal” Joseph Robol

    Calvin “Cal” Joseph Robol, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on May 26, 1940, he was a son to the late Calvin Cabino Robol and Mary Merlo Robol.

    Cal was honorably discharged from the United States Army, and was an American Legion member. He obtained his Master’s Degree in education, and worked as a special education teacher and history teacher for many years. In his earlier years, Cal enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan, and boating, fishing, and being out on the water was his passion. He was a talented handy man and enjoyed carpentry work, making many home improvements to his residence in Smithfield. Cal took pride in his home improvements and expansions and maintained a beautiful home with his wife, Mary Robol. Mary served as a family medicine physician in Johnston County for many years. Their marriage was truly a beautiful and loving gift of 28 years of love and companionship.

    A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

    In addition to his parents, Cal is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Robol, a sister, and a brother.

    Cal is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances Asterita Robol of Smithfield; and daughter, Lori Tiberi and husband Emidio of Philadelphia.
