Smithfield- Delaney Edwards, 66, passed away peacefully at SECU Hospice House of Smithfield, NC surrounded by his loving family. A native of Onslow Co, he was the son of Ernestine Apanites and the late Onnie “O. J.” Edwards.
He was a devoted husband and wonderful father to his five daughters. He was a pillar of strength to his entire family. He was an entrepreneur and small business owner performing home repairs, maintenance services and lawn care services, in Johnston Co and the surrounding areas. He was a craftsman who loved working with his hands and the satisfaction of a hard days work and a job well done. He loved spending time with his family and friends, going fishing and going to the beach and mountains.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sue Edwards, his sister Shelia Embrey, his father, Onnie James “O. J.“ Edwards and stepmother Pauline Edwards.
There will be a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM Friday July 8, 2022 in the Chapel at Parrish Funeral Home.
Delaney is survived by his daughters; Angel Blizzard and husband “Doodles”, Beverly Edwards and husband Keith Lee, Elizabeth Ennis and husband Landon, Charlotte Durant and husband Adrian and Sabrina Cutchins and husband Jordan; mother, Ernestine Apanites and husband Mike Apanites; brothers, Bronnie, Donley, Buddy, Ricky, Jay, Albert Edwards, Kevin Lane, Robert and Joe Apanites; sisters, Pansy Holland, Paulette Parker, Renee Stradtman and Theresa Carter; grandchildren, Destiny Clement, Gage Ennis, Rylee Ennis, Hailey Cutchins, Nathan Cutchins, Payton Cutchins, Monica Adams, Tabitha Recore, Shawna Recore, Grayce Blizzard, Kameron Edwards, Jamie Lee, Timberlea Tyner, Ethan Lee, Adrian Durant, Jr., Jayce Durant, Malaya Durant and Hardin Durant; great-grandchildren, Oakleigh, Paisley, Madelyn, Hayden, Halston and Archie and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM.
